In the few days this painting has hung in my gallery several people have told me there are no square posts in the village – sorry but there are! At the bottom of Joliffe Road there are two groynes with square posts and this painting features one of them. To be fair, the groyne actually extends further out than it shows here but it screwed up the composition – dont you hate it when that happens 😀

A note concerning picture frames.
A month or so ago I had an email from a potential customer. She told me she had seen a painting of mine, priced at the heady sum of £350, and wondered if I would discount it as it wasn’t framed. Still unsure to what she was referring as the only painting of mine at that price was, most certainly, framed, but the answer would have been, regretably, NO.
Now I’m no picture framer and I’m certainly not a top end art gallery. Unless a painting is a ‘painted edge’ canvas they’re all framed, by me (and often not brilliantly) for display purposes. They get carted from pillar to post and hung on walls all over the show, and the frames may get grubby and damaged – it’s preferable to having the painting damaged – I’m sure you understand.
When you buy one of my paintings you buy ‘the painting’ itself regardless of whether or not it’s framed. If it’s in a frame you’re very welcome to keep it, take it home, hang it on your wall if you wish, but the frame doesn’t form part of the ‘contract’ so to speak. Consequently any attempted chip because you don’t like the frame, or it’s damaged, or a poor fit, is going to go unrewarded. Bolshy old sod aren’t I. Sorry 🙂
