The Witterings are almost as well known for their groynes as they are for their miles of sand at low tide – after all, they’re all there is to stop the sand filling the entrance to Chichester Harbour and wandering off to Portsmouth!
(This painting is now SOLD)
This is the second painting I’ve produced using this technique and subject matter. Whilst the composition is almost identical all other aspects of the paintings vary hugely.
It’s painted in oils on canvas and measures 2′ x 3′ and is framed in a distressed silver antique moulding with a white inner, bringing it’s total dimensions to 32″ x 44″. The sea and sky are painted in my usual figurative style but the groyne is heavy impasto and gloss varnished – it really looks like soaking wet seaweed.
This painting was featured, in some detail, in my blog back in October 2020, follow the link if you’d like to read more. You’ll be surprised to learn it’s still for sale. I know! And as there’s a ‘White Walls’ in Chichester I’ve seen what many of you are hanging on your walls – and how much you’re paying.
This painting is priced at £1,500.00
You’re very welcome to pop into my studio – please give me a call or drop me a message first. If you live in or around Chichester I’m happy to bring it around for a home viewing. Covid aware and restrictions allowing of course.
